A female. This kind of coat coloring, which combines two colors other than white (black and red in this case), is known as tortoiseshell, and it is found almost exclusively in female cats. This is because the X chromosome determines the color of the cat, and there are no color genes in Y chromosome. Thus, female cats with XX chromosomes may be three colored (including white), while male cats with XY chromosomes cannot. (with the exception of very rare XXY sterile males).

Beaver a large semiaquatic broad-tailed rodent that is native to North America and northern Eurasia. It is noted for its habit of gnawing through tree trunks to fell the trees in order to feed on the bark and build dams. Beaver has the highest ratio of brain mass to body weight among rodents, which is reflected in the behaviour and the ability to act not only instinctively, but also logically.

Platypus. The venom produced in the crural glands of the male platypus is not lethal to humans. However, it produces excruciating pain which does not respond even to morphine; sometimes the pain develops into a long-lasting hyperalgesia that can persist for months. Some biologists suggest that the venom may work directly on the brain's pain receptors. Other venomous mammals are small insectivores and vampire bats, which produce toxic saliva.

Sloth. Unlike other mammals, sloths cannot regulate their body temperatures, so they can only live in warm rainforest, where temperature varies little in the course of the year. Sloths have very low metabolic rates and maintain low and variable body temperatures (30–34°C or 86–93°F), regulating it by moving in and out of the shade in trees.

Bubble net. A group of whales swims in a shrinking circle blowing bubbles below a school of prey. Forage fish show a strong fear of bubbles and can be easily contained within a bubble curtain. The shrinking ring of bubbles encircles the school and confines it in an ever-smaller cylinder. The whales, then suddenly swim upward through the "net", mouths agape, swallowing thousands of fish in one gulp.

Bears. The area of nasal mucous membrane in a bear's head is 7 times greater than a bloodhound's (and one hundred times larger than in a human's). Polar bears have been seen to march up to 40 miles in a straight line to reach a prey animal they have detected.

In Borneo. The Bornean bearded pig is a wild member of the pig family, found in Southeast Asia.
