In Naples. Lying mostly underwater, Campi Flegrei comprises 24 craters. It is one of the largest volcanoes in the world, capable of producing VEI 7 (super-colossal) eruptions. Its most recent eruption of 1538 created a new hill, Monte Nuovo.

Stromboli. Mt Stromboli has been in almost one continuous eruption for the past 2000 years, which is the longest known in the world. The volcano explodes at intervals ranging from minutes to hours. This is known as Strombolian eruption type, also observed at other volcanoes worldwide.

Marmolada. The Dolomites are a part of Southern Limestone Alps located in northeastern Italy. Marmolada (3342 m) is located about 100 kilometres north-northwest of Venice, from which it can be seen on a clear day.
