From garbage. Sea glass beaches are created from years of dumping garbage into an area of coastline. Sea glass begins as normal shards of broken glass that are then persistently tumbled and ground until the sharp edges are rounded.

San Sebastian lies on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, Atlantic Ocean. In 1863 the city was chosen by the Spanish monarchy to spend the summer following the French example of the near Biarritz. As the "wave baths" at La Concha conflicted with shipbuilding activity, shipyards relocated to Pasaia, a near bay formerly part of San Sebastian.

Kitesurfing. Kiteboarding is a surface water sport combining aspects of wakeboarding, snowboarding, windsurfing, surfing, paragliding, skateboarding and sailing into one extreme sport. A kiteboarder harnesses the power of the wind with a large controllable power kite to be propelled across the water on a kiteboard similar to a wakeboard or a small surfboard, with or without footstraps or bindings.

The Bikini Atoll at the Pacific Ocean. The name for the bikini design was coined in 1946 by Parisian engineer Louis Réard, the designer of the bikini. He named the swimsuit after Bikini Atoll, where testing on the nuclear bomb was taking place.

Rehoboth Beach, founded in 1873 as the Rehoboth Beach Camp Meeting Association, is a coastal city in Delaware. In 2011, it was given a 5-star water quality rating by the NRDC, which was only given to 12 other towns. Its population inflates by thousands in the summer, mainly from tourists from the U.S. capital, hence the name, "The Nation's Summer Capital."
