Las Meninas, created in 1656, is the most well known work of Velázquez, con­sid­ered his magnum opus. It depicts one of the in­fan­tas, Margaret Theresa, and the title trans­lates to "The maids of Honour". Yet, it is unclear as to who or what is the true subject - perhaps the painter himself?
