In 1967 Jocelyn Bell Burnell and Antony Hewish first observed pulses sep­a­rat­ed by 1.33 seconds, orig­i­nat­ed from the same location on the sky. It was not until a second pul­sat­ing source was dis­cov­ered in a dif­fer­ent part of the sky that the "LGM hy­poth­e­sis" was entirely aban­doned.
