Bob Dylan was born as Robert Allen Zim­mer­man in 1941 in a Jewish family in Duluth, Mi­nes­so­ta. He adopted the stage name "Bob Dylan" in­flu­enced by poems by Dylan Thomas. In August 1962 he legally changed his name to Robert Dylan.
