What makes naked mole-rats interesting to scientists?

longevity and cancer resistance
extraordinary sense of smell
spatial memory
ability to see in darkness
Naked mole-rats are the most long-living rodents. They are known to live up to 31 years. Until 2016, when 2 cancer sick animals were found, they had been believed to be fully cancer resistant. Their immunological system evolved an additional cancer cell discovery feature that does exist among other animal species.
