What is Taj Mahal?

It was built by emperor Shah Jahan in memory of favorite wife, Arjumand Banu, widely known by the epithet Mumtaz Mahal ("the chosen one of the palace"). She died during the birth of their four­teenth child. While the white marble mau­soleum is the best known com­po­nent of the Taj Mahal, it is actually a large complex of struc­tures.
