Humans usually have 32 per­ma­nent (adult) teeth. On each side of each jaw, we have 2 in­cisors, 1 canine, 2 pre­mo­lars (also called bi­cus­pid­s), and 3 molars. Third molars, called "wisdom teeth", may never erupt into the mouth or form at all. In some rare cases of hy­per­don­ti­a, fourth and fifth molars may be formed.
