The dis­tin­guish­ing features of the Chicago School are the use of steel-frame build­ings with masonry cladding, large plate-­glass window areas and limiting the amount of exterior or­na­men­ta­tion. Many Chicago School sky­scrapers contain the three parts of a clas­si­cal column.
