Many small or­gan­isms (ie insects) are co­prophagous - they usually consume and redigest the feces of large animals. These feces contain sub­stan­tial amounts of semi-di­gest­ed food (her­bi­vores' di­ges­tive systems are es­pe­cial­ly in­ef­fi­cien­t). Two fe­ces-eat­ing insects are the dung-bee­tle and the fly.
